Pentecost Sunday

COMING CLOSER TO CHRIST:

The gifts of the Holy Spirit, in a sense, are the life of God himself at work within us, just as the life of the vine is at work in the branches. Our job in this great Christian adventure is really just to cooperate with the Holy Spirit, to go where he leads us, to say yes to what he asks of us, to let him mold us in accordance with God’s original dream for our lives. God doesn’t pressure us to follow him; he loves us into following him, and he wants his love to stir up our love. That’s the Holy Spirit’s job. There are many things we can do to cooperate effectively with the Holy Spirit in our Christian journey, to stay open and docile to his inspirations. Come, Holy Spirit!

The Resumption of Public Mass

As per Bishop McGrattan’s announcement on Tuesday, we will be re-introducing the public celebration of the mass at Sacred Heart Church on Monday, June 1, 2020! We are so happy that we can offer the celebration of the Eucharist once again. During this pandemic, it is our priority to keep our priests, staff, volunteers, and parishioners safe. With that said, the mass will be celebrated in a way which adhere’s to public health guidelines and still respects and reverences the liturgy. Please read the Diocesan guidelines for more information on the protocols being taken to protect everyone in our church.

Please note that there is a dispensation from Sunday obligations still in effect and you are in no way obliged to attend mass. If you choose to attend, you do so at your own risk.

Mass & Sign Up Protocol

Here are a few pointers to keep in mind when considering coming back to mass:

  • Please arrive 30 minutes prior for registration and screening. If you do not arrive prior to mass you risk losing your spot.
  • You are required to maintain physical distancing of 2 meters (6 ft) at all times while in the parish except from people within your household.
  • You are required to wear a mask in order to attend and you must bring your own mask.
  • If you are feeling unwell (cough, fever, sore throat, runny nose) please do not come and live stream mass at home.
  • If you have traveled outside the country in the last 14 days you will not be admitted.
  • Mass is not obligatory and attending is at your own risk.

In accordance with public health measures, mass attendance will be restricted to 50 people (including priests, volunteers, and lector). To be able to manage this, we have created a simple sign up system on our website. Sign up for a mass below or call Beata at 403-244-2741 ext. 221.

Please be considerate to others who would like to attend mass and consider only signing up once or twice per week.

Volunteers are Needed

This new way of celebrating mass is going to take a lot more work and coordination and we need volunteers who can help! If you are interested in volunteering, sign up below!
