5th Sunday of Easter

COMING CLOSER TO CHRIST:
For thousands of years the People of God longed to see the living face of God. Then the Word became Flesh and dwelt among us. He came to His own and they did not accept him. Today, likewise, God’s face is revealed in our neighbour. We can question why the Jews rejected Jesus in their midst; but look again at ourselves, how we struggle in disbelief to find Jesus in all our brothers and sisters. If you love me, then you will love one another as I have loved you first.

SERVING OTHERS: One the slyest weapons of the devil has been to reduce love to a consoling sentiment. How easy it is to be caught in the idea of love for God and neigbour, without having to get our hands dirty in dealing with the messy reality of loving difficult people. Love does…it commands to leave of our comfort zone, to seek the face of God in the difficult people I would rather just love in my thoughts.

ANNOUNCEMENT:
