2nd Sunday of Advent

COMING CLOSER TO CHRIST:

“In these days the liturgy constantly reminds us that ‘God comes’ to visit his people, to dwell in the midst of men and women and to form with them a communion of love and life: a family” (Pope Benedict XVI Angelus, 10 December 2006).

  • God doesn’t create us and then forget about us.
  • He gives us the gift of life, and then he accompanies us, gently trying to guide us into a deeper and deeper friendship with him, never giving up on us.
  • He knows what we have been through, the wounds in our hearts.
  • Nothing about our lives is indifferent to him, because we aren’t indifferent to him. As our reading puts it, we are “remembered by God.”

SERVING OTHERS:

Advent preparation is compared to road construction: “filling in the valleys and leveling the mountains”. Examine the wounded relationships which need renovation and repair for God’s love to unite your loved ones estranged from you. What’s the step this week you will do to bridge that gap?
