“Be Productive with your Talents”

The talents we have been given carry responsibilities – we are called to use and share our God given gifts.  We are expected to actively contribute to the work God’s Kingdom and to the Christian community as the Body of Christ.

In practice, this means taking an active part in our Church, in our parish, and contributing to the betterment of our society.  It is important for us to spend time reflecting on upon what our unique ‘talents’ are – our gifts and abilities, and ask ourselves if we are using them effectively and conscientiously.

For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.

The time to do this is now, because as we have been amply warned, we do not know when our Master is coming back to check his accounts with us.  We must not remain static or passive in God’s service.

Doing nothing is not an option. The more we give and share our talents and resources with others, the more we are personally enriched.  If we do not share the gifts God has given us, we are diminished in every way.
