22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Discover Your Spiritual Gifts

Christ told his disciples “I have come not to be serve, but to serve and to give my life….” (Mt 20:28).

Living as disciples requires us to live with the same attitude. There is a great paradox when we serve: we receive so much more in return. The Church asks each one of us not only to be spiritual consumers but to be spiritually healthy: to be nourished so that we can be leaven for others with the gifts we have received.

Are we conscious of what we have received, our spiritual gifts? Have we identified our own gifts, strengths, style and passion for a specific ministry or apostolate? God has given each of us specific talents, spiritual gifts, and passions for bringing good to this world. Our ability to identify and live out our spiritual gifts is at the root of joy and living life to the full.

As part of our mission to form missionary disciples, Sacred Heart Church wants to help you identify your spiritual gifts so that you can put them at the service of Christ and our community. This month we plan on piloting a spiritual gifts discovery workshop for our staff and coordinators. And we want to roll out this workshop to the parish. We believe that if we pray and gain clarity around our spiritual gifts, we can unleash them to make a difference in our church, community, and world.

If you would like to take part in this workshop, please sign up at the welcoming desk or contact evangelization@sacredheartcalgary.ca
